Risks of not upgrading your Joomla Software

Joomla 1.5 has reached its End-Of-Life in April 2012 and there is no support for this version of Joomla since December 2012. This would mean that any websites running on Joomla 1.5 websites could be vulnerable to hackers through any security hole in some out dated extension scripts or any issues with Joomla Core. If your website had been running on Joomla 1.5 for long now and there weren't any issues with this before, that is great. But, there could be issues now since there are no more security patches.

What is the risk of not upgrading Joomla?

If you run your website with a security risk and potential vulnerabilities and stay at the outdated version, there is a great chance of your website going down any moment. If your website is hacked and become a source of malware or is under phishing attack, then, depending upon the severity of the hack, your website will either have to clean the hack first or take it completely down and rebuild. The costs involved with cleaning and fixing the hack on a website are much higher then taking the preventive measures in timely manner and keeping your website software up-to-date.
